Air Liquide expands its Calibration Activity to Italy,
by entering into the capital of MG Tarature.

Air Liquide Italia Services has today purchased 60% of the capital of MG Tarature, the calibration subsidiary of MG s.p.a.

MG s.p.a., a Brescia based Italian company, member of the Marposs Group, manufactures precision gauges and measurement and functional testing equipment for the mechanical industry. Marposs is a worldwide leader in measuring equipment for the mechanical and machine tool industry. MG s.p.a. has developed a highly specialized calibration activity for its customers. This
activity, recently separated into an independent company called MG Tarature (“MG Calibration”), is the largest private calibration entity in Italy. Accredited by the SIT (the accreditation body for Italy) in several domains (dimensional, electricity, temperature, pressure, torque, mass, roughness), MG Tarature operates from 5 laboratories in Italy : Brescia, Torino, Bologna, Treviso (near Venezia) and Chieti. With 44 dedicated technicians and staff, MG Tarature enjoys a very high technical image in Italy. Its turnover for 2003 was nearly 4 Million Euros.

By this alliance between Air Liquide and MG s.p.a. (who will keep its remaining share of 40%), the partners wish to develop a broad calibration offer for customers of the various industrial sectors of Italy. MG Tarature will stay in its current premises but benefit from sales synergies from Air Liquide Italia.

MG Tarature will benefit from Air Liquide’s full support and will be part of the European Trescal calibration network launched by Air Liquide which groups all of its calibration entities at the European level. After the recent acquisition of the calibration activities of Livingston and this latest acquisition, Trescal is now active in 9 european countries (France, Germany, Spain, Italy, Sweden, Denmark and the three countries of the Benelux) and serves 13 500 customers with its 930 employees. Global turnover of the Trescal Group is approx. 85 Million Euros.

This investment confirms the desire of Air Liquide to propose to its customers services creating added value around a strong technological content, allowing them to better control and improve the quality of their products, their process and their industrial performance.
