Press Release: Trescal Acquires Four Companies to Expand Across Three Continents

Paris, France – September 15, 2021 –

Trescal, the global leader in calibration services, announced the acquisition of four companies on three continents since January 2021. The acquisitions Celemetrix and Mobile Test’n Cal in Australia, SICT in South Korea and Thailand, and Qualcer in Portugal bring an additional 30 M€ of combined sales and 250 talented employees to the Trescal group. 

They reinforce Trescal’s position in Australia and South Korea, while marking Trescal’s entry into Portugal and Thailand. In addition to geographic expansion, the acquisitions will enhance Trescal’s technical expertise, notably through the addition of antenna calibration capability, critical for the telecommunication, aeronautic and defense industries.

With these acquisitions, Trescal is forecasting pro forma sales of 370 M€ for 2021.

Trescal has now undertaken 29 acquisitions since OMERS, one of Canada’s largest defined benefit pension plans, invested in 2018.

Trescal announces four acquisitions in South Korea, the UK, Australia and Brazil

Paris, January 23rd  2020. Trescal Group, the specialist in calibration services, announces four acquisitions.

Trescal expands its geographical coverage within the Asia-Pacific region with the acquisition of Korea Testing Instruments Calibration Center (KTICC) in South Korea and IPAC Solutions in Australia, broadens its offering in Brazil with Instituto Amazonense de Metrologia (IAM) and adds a 3D contactless measurement capability with the acquisition of Physical Digital in the UK.

Guillaume Caroit, Trescal CEO, explains: “These acquisitions reflect our strategy to support our clients around the world and our goal is to triple our size in the APAC countries by 2022 and to continue with the consolidation of the US market.” Since its acquisition by OMERS in April 2018, Trescal Group has made 21 acquisitions to accelerate its international development strategy.

Founded in 1982, KTICC employs 57 people and has a turnover of 5.3 million euros. Based in Seoul and accredited by the Korea Laboratory Accreditation Scheme, the laboratory has developed expertise in fibre optics, electrical (DC/LF/RF), gas detection, dimensional and temperature.

IPAC Solutions was founded in 1988, employs 41 people across 3 sites (Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane) and has a turnover of 6.1 million euros. IPAC Solutions services clients from the food and life sciences industries and its main technical fields are temperature, humidity, pressure and flow, mostly carried out on- site. This latest acquisition is complementarity with ACS, the first acquisition made by Trescal in Australia in May 2019, and further strengthens the group’s single-source offering on the Australian market.

The acquisition of IAM, created in 1997 and located in Manaus, solidifies the position of Trescal in the Amazonas State following the acquisition of Setting in June 2019. IAM employs 16 people and has a turnover of 0.5 million euros. It provides in-house and on-site metrology services in seven accredited parameters.

Founded in 2005 in Guildford, Physical Digital specialises in 3D contactless measurement for the automotive, energy and aerospace sectors. It is the first company in the world to be accredited by NADCAP, a project in collaboration with the United States for quality assurance in the aerospace and defence sectors. The company employs 12 people and has a turnover of 1.2 million euros.

Trescal makes a new step in Brazilian calibration market

Trescal, the international specialist in calibration services, is taking a new step in its geographical expansion in Brazil with the acquisition of Setting and Instituto Amazonense de Metrologia (IAM).

Founded in 1993 and headquartered in Sao Paulo, with accredited laboratories in Sao Paulo city and Manaus, Setting also delivers Inmetro Accredited Proficiency Tests and Certified Reference Materials (PH & Conductivity).

Founded in 1997 and headquartered in Manaus, IAM is a single source provider of calibration services. Thanks to it’s unique set of Inmetro accredited skills in Manaus, IAM is the suitable entity to become Trescal Amazonas.

Trescal operates now twelve accredited laboratories in nine Brazilian States, located in Porto Alegre, Curitiba, Cerquilho, Sao Paulo, Santo Andre, Taubate, Rio de Janeiro, Belo Horizonte, Vitoria, Salvador de Bahia, Recife and Manaus. Furthermore, the company also operates two different kinds of mobile accredited calibration laboratories, according to customer needs.

Trescal announces three acquisitions in Brazil, Switzerland and the USA

Paris, May 14, 2019. 

Trescal, the international specialist in calibration services announces the acquisitions of Gero in Cerquilho (Brazil), MCS Laboratory AG in Lucerne (Switzerland) and Integrated Service Solutions (ISS) near Philadelphia in the USA. These acquisitions will bring an additional turnover of circa 10 million Euros to the group.

Founded in 1991 in Cerquilho in the state of Sao Paulo, Gero holds the largest number of INMETRO accredited domains in Brazil. The laboratory provides in-house and on-site calibration services to the automotive, energy and electronics industries. It employs 64 people and its technical skills, particularly in acoustics, gas flow and radio frequency, enhance the technical capabilities of Trescal, consolidating its status as the leader in the Brazilian market.

With the acquisition of MCS, based near Lucerne, Trescal is strengthening its presence in Switzerland. The group’s technical offering has now been supplemented with new skills in temperature, humidity and pressure. The SAS -accredited laboratory founded in 2006 employs 4 people and specializes in the Life Sciences sector. The two founders, Hansrudolf Imhof and Werner Zgraggen, will remain in place to further the development of this entity.                                        

The acquisition of ISS enables Trescal to expand its presence to Pennsylvania and to increase its expertise in pipette calibration and gas detection & concentration. It will strengthen the group’s ability to address the Life Sciences sector in the US. ISS was founded in 1988 and employs 51 people.

These are the 12th, 13th and 14th acquisitions since the change of ownership to Omers in April 2018.

Trescal, the international specialist in calibration services, announces the acquisitions of LBT Testing and Calibration, near Brussels (Belgium); C2M in Rouen (France); Metrology in Vitoria (Brazil).These acquisitions will add circa €3m turnover to the Group. Founded in 1992 in Louvain-la-Neuve, near Brussels, LBT provides in-house and on-site BELAC accreditedcalibration services as well as validation services to the Life Sciences Industry and employs 16 people. Itstechnical expertise covers climatic, carbon dioxide incubator calibration, humidity and temperature. Themanager Roland Platteau will remain with Trescal to pursue the development and the integration of the company within Trescal Group. Metrology, based in Vitoria, is one of the two private owned laboratories delivering accredited calibration inthe state of Espirito Santo and employs 8 people. This acquisition expands Trescal’s technical andgeographical footprint and consolidates the group’s leadership over the Brazilian metrology servicesmarketplace. Filippe Aderne Maia who currently runs the company will remain in his position. The C2M team of 4 people integrates the Trescal Rouen branch bringing their expertise in electrical,temperature, humidity and pressure calibration as well as their know-how in first level repair. These are the 9th, 10th and 11th acquisitions since the change of ownership to Omers in April 2018.
